Job Title: Assistant Director of Divine Worship
Location: Peoria, IL
Reports To: Director of Divine Worship
Job Type: Full-Time, Temporary (November 2024 – May 2025)
Job Summary:
The Assistant Director of Divine Worship plays a vital role in supporting the liturgical life and sacramental ministries of the Diocese of Peoria. This position assists in the preparation and coordination of diocesan liturgical celebrations, works closely with clergy and parishes, and helps ensure that the liturgical and sacramental needs of the Cathedral and the Bishop’s Office are met.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cathedral: Prepare sanctuary for liturgies, maintain vestments and supplies, coordinate with janitors, florists, and lectors, and oversee Tomb operations.
- Bishop Events: Support the Bishop, assist with event preparation, and manage files for liturgical functions.
- Divine Worship: Recruit/train pontifical servers, manage liturgical warehouse, and maintain ministerial records.
- Collaborate with the Office of Sacred Music, maintain sacristies and chapels, and assist with sacramental intake for Confirmations.
Required Qualifications:
- Practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with clergy, staff, and parishioners
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software
Additional Details:
- Office-based with some local travel required for diocesan liturgies and parish support
- Must be available for evenings, weekends, and holy days as needed
- Sponsorship is not available for this position
